In collaboration with venerable Quebec footwear company, Roots introduces innovative weather-resistant boot for men and women

(TORONTO) -  For the first time, Roots Canada has joined forces with Kamik, the legendary Quebec-based footwear company, to develop a new boot called the Roots Winter Boot. Made in Canada, the stylish boot is built to provide maximum protection against the country’s harsh winter climate.

"Unlike our competitors, the Roots Winter Boot is made in Canada, the country that defines winter," says Roots Co-Founder Michael Budman. "We're proud to carry on a tradition that's been largely lost of Canadian-made insulated, rubber-soled boots created by people who understand what our winter is all about. It's especially satisfying to be working with such a great Canadian eco-friendly company like Kamik."

The Roots Winter Boot is made from full-grain waterproof leather. Its genuine sheerling collar helps keep snow and slush out, and allows feet to breathe. The boot’s high-quality rubber sole is designed for stability and grip, and built to keep feet dry in even the most inhospitable conditions. The Roots Winter Boot provides protection against temperatures as low as -40C.

For more than 100 years, Kamik has been manufacturing outdoor footwear with superior comfort and reliable protection for all conditions and seasons. Kamik makes more than two million pairs of boots each year from 100 per cent recycled material in Quebec and continues to develop environmentally friendly materials.

The Roots Winter Boot will be on sale in select Roots stores and beginning December 18, 2009. It will be available for men and women in black and tan leather and will be sold in sizes 7 to 12 for men and sizes 6 to 10 for women for $218.
