Co-Founders help inaugurate newest retail location in western Canada

(CALGARY) – The latest in a series of Roots flagship stores is being officially inaugurated today in Calgary with a grand opening event in the presence of company Co-Founders Michael Budman and Don Green and local sports, entertainment and media luminaries.

With a prime location in downtown Calgary, at the corner of 17th Ave. and 4th St. SW. on the famous Red Mile, the 2,600 sq. foot store has a great street presence. Its large almost floor-to-ceiling windows ensure lots of natural light for the benefit of both shoppers and staff.

In keeping with Roots environmental sensitivities, the construction and renovation of the location involved the use of recycled materials and fixtures wherever possible. For example, the features wall in the store was made with reclaimed cedar wood. In addition, sustainable bamboo was utilized for various floor and wall fixtures.

The environmental aspect will be reflected in this evening’s grand opening with a special ‘Acts of Green’ initiative. Among those expected at the party are members of the Calgary Flames NHL team.

A beautiful showcase for Roots products, including specialty fixtures for leather bags and accessories, the new store brings to six the number of Roots retail locations in Calgary, and 11 in all of Alberta. In total, Roots has 116 stores in Canada.

“We’re extremely excited by this new store in Calgary,” says Michael Budman. “Its design and eco-friendly attributes reflect the values and aesthetics of Roots. Its addition to the Roots retail family at this time speaks to our brand’s strong presence in Canada in general, and our confidence in particular in Alberta.”
